I have been an OB/GYN for over 30 years. This includes over 25 years of private practice and four years of residency training. While in medical school, I initially explored various medical disciplines beyond Surgery.

However, as I delved deeper into my career choices, I contemplated pursuing a general surgery residency. My passion for children and their care also led me to consider a pediatric residency and specialty.

Interestingly, I fully believed I would never go into OB/GYN! I knew that my family would be a priority, even above medicine. With the rigors of being a medical professional, I was concerned that the tension between personal and professional priorities could become a conflict. Given its unpredictable schedules, how could I go into the OB/GYN field and still be faithful to the priorities of having a family?

Then, the day came when I delivered my first baby. When that happened, I knew this was what I was meant to do. I finally discerned my true calling and passion: to become an OB/GYN with an emphasis on not only OB care but also GYN surgery.

One of the things I am most passionate about within my practice is Obstetrics. Being able to care for people during pregnancy is very rewarding to me. It is truly my privilege to be there and participate in the birth of a child. I am so grateful to be able to say that I have been there for over 6,000 deliveries. I feel so blessed to be alongside my patients and their families during the happy times and the tears of joy and to experience that celebration of life.

My passion extends not only to obstetrics but also to GYN surgery. The technical intricacies of Surgery, whether involving laparoscopy, open procedures, vaginal Surgery, or robotic assistance, ignite my enthusiasm and provides profound professional satisfaction.

During my residency training, I focused on mastering both vaginal Surgery and the fundamentals of laparoscopy. In my current practice, I continue to apply my expertise in vaginal surgical techniques, performing procedures such as vaginal hysterectomies and reconstructive surgeries to address pelvic prolapse.

Completing complicated surgeries laparoscopically maximizes my patients’ ability to recover quickly, get back on their feet, and return to the important callings of life. Gynecologic Surgery remains one of my true loves in my obstetrics and gynecology practice.

As important as my profession is, my family remains my priority. I married my wife, Jennafer, in December 1994. We have been blessed with four children–two sets of twins. Our oldest twins, a son and a daughter, graduated from Wheaton College. Our oldest son married in 2022, and we are blessed with a wonderful daughter-in-law. The younger twins are identical boys, and both attend ACU in Texas. Jennafer and I proudly and fully support our children’s professional and educational pursuits in medicine, ministry, education, and law.

Our family enjoys the outdoors here in Colorado, and we love skiing and snowboarding. We enjoy traveling together, and one of our favorite places to travel is the beaches in Florida.

As a family, we attend Woodmen Valley Chapel–a wonderful church here in Colorado Springs. We have also been on many mission trips together and independently, including trips to Romania (twice), Haiti, Honduras, Estonia, and Uganda.

A foundational priority in my personal life and family life is living consistently with our Biblical worldview.

As a Colorado Springs Obstetrician and Gynecologist, it’s important to me to be consistent in my living. How I live my professional life needs to align with my core beliefs. The Bible teaches us the most important lesson: to love God and your neighbor. I want to practice in such a way that I’m expressing genuine and earnest concern for my patients.

I want them to know that I value them as people, not just as patients, but as individuals. I hope that the care I provide reflects an authentic desire to be there to help care for my patients. I want to provide care in a way that demonstrates I care for them as God does. They are made in His image, and I am called to love, serve, and care for them.

My job as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist in Colorado Springs is more than a profession. It is a calling and a ministry. I love and serve my patients to the best of my ability. As such, I try to live and practice consistently with the Greatest Commandment–to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. And to love your neighbor as yourself.

Living in a manner that shows love to others is how faith brings value to the world around us. We must recognize that all life has inherent value.

What a joy and honor it is to care for patients during one of the most exciting times of life!

Jennafer and I have been part of the Colorado Springs community since 1996. We feel so blessed to live here. What a beautiful city to live in, what a lovely state to live in! But also, what a wonderful community and we are here because we want to be a part of it. And what a wonderful community to belong to and be active members of.

Together, we feel a special draw. We are involved in organizations supporting families, children, and mothers.
